ST8000VXZ10 identifies the FFP packaged version; the underlying drive is ST8000VX010. Its 8TB capacity provides space for recorded footage, with retention depending on camera settings and video compression.

The drive uses conventional magnetic recording (CMR), a 256MB cache and a SATA 6Gb/s interface. Maximum sustained transfer speed is specified at up to 180MB/s, not the nominal SATA bandwidth. Spindle speed is 5400 RPM. The drive is optimised for continuous video recording rather than general desktop workloads.

SkyHawk supports systems with up to 64 HD cameras and up to 16 drive bays. Built-in rotational vibration sensors help accommodate multi-drive installations, and SkyHawk Health Management offers monitoring in supported equipment. Seagate rates this model for a 180TB/year workload in around-the-clock surveillance use.

FFP means frustration-free packaging and does not imply that cables or mounting screws are included. Ensure the recorder provides a compatible SATA connection and 3.5-inch mounting space. Seagate lists three-year Rescue Data Recovery Services for this +Rescue drive family, subject to the applicable service terms and region.

Brand

Seagate

Series

SkyHawk

Drive Model

ST8000VX010

Packaged MPN

ST8000VXZ10

Packaging

FFP

Capacity

8TB

Drive Type

Internal HDD

Form Factor

3.5-inch

Interface

SATA 6Gb/s

Rotational Speed

5400 RPM

Cache

256MB

Recording Technology

CMR

Maximum Sustained Transfer Rate

Up to 180MB/s

Intended Use

Surveillance DVR/NVR

Workload Rating

180TB/year

Cameras Supported

Up to 64 HD

Drive Bays Supported

Up to 16

Rotational Vibration Sensors

Yes
